Video about roof replacement for the Mercedes-Benz Arena online

The new project film from the Cable Structures business unit shows how PFEIFER and its Chinese subsidiary Covertex were able to completely replace the membrane roof of the Stuttgart stadium within just a few weeks.

Replacing an entire stadium roof within just a few weeks? Not a problem for the cable construction experts at PFEIFER! They proved themselves yet again with a renovation project for the Mercedes-Benz Arena in Stuttgart.

Rebuilding during summer break

During the 2017 summer break from playing, the cable construction team equipped the first-division stadium for VfB Stuttgart with a completely new membrane roof. After 25 years, the old roofing needed to be replaced.

The project involved removing and replacing all 40 segments of the delicate roof structure, measuring more than 38,000 square meters. The new membranes were delivered by the Chinese subsidiary PFEIFER Covertex – their first assignment in Germany since being acquired in 2015.

Positive response

It was not just the project participants who were excited – the PFEIFER team also had a very positive response. That’s no surprise, because the results are truly impressive. See for yourself in the video.
